Is EverQuest going to die? Zonk, the current editor of Slashdot Games, togheter with Travis McGeathy of Gametab don't think so. Checking out what the expansion The Serpent's Spine brought to the game they seems to feel like the game has been resurrected.

Sony announced the release of a new expansion named The Serpent’s Spine for the first Everquest game. The Serpent’s Spine will introduce a new player race, the Drakkin, destructible terrain, new spells, and generally new content for players from level 1 to 75. |

EQ death penalties change |

The next patch will put on some changes on the death penalties for Everquest. Since now new players respawn after each death with full gear and no exp loss until level 10, and with no exp loss but the need to recover your gear at level 11. The incoming change will give a low xp penalty since level 6 "to start introducing death penalties while players are still in the relatively safe area of Gloomingdeep".
This looks like the right place to whine about it. |

With the progression server getting ready and operative in less then one month, SOE decided yesterday to open its doors and give the possibility to EQ subscriber to start creating one character per account for naming reserve purpose.

35 days after the last one, SOE released a new patch for the first Everquest. Nothing extraordinary but just the usual fixes and tweaks. Enchanters needs to be particulary careful since their AA points for Spell Casting Deftness will be refunded.
